On Tuesday, June 11, Ashley, Meredith and I attended an informative and entertaining luncheon hosted by AAF-Dallas. The guest speaker was Heath Nielsen, Baylor Universities Associate Athletics Director for Communications. Heath was the brains behind the ingenious campaign that helped Robert Griffin III, also known as RG3, capture the 2011 Heisman Trophy.
Heath had the entire room laughing, or in Ashley’s case cringing, when showing some of RG3’s infamous play against OU that was his “Heisman moment,” that launched the campaign’s momentum and secured RG3 the Heisman. Heath walked us through his game plan media, print, an online strategy, which included creative tweets, simple print ads and impressive online videos that captured Heisman voters and fans attention.
This was the first AAF luncheon I’ve attended, and all I can say is that Heath Nielsen set the bar high. I look forward to seeing what AAF rolls out next month.
